The significance of Saat Pheras comes to the forefront when the bride and the groom have to take 7 rounds of the holy fire and each of them are made to take 7 vows as the main pillars of their married life. The Saat Pheras is also known as the Saptapadi or the 7 steps which is the stepping stone towards a happy marriage. The fire around which the pheras or the 7 rounds are taken is known as the Agni Devta or the Fire God. In the third round the groom prays to God to grant them with prosperity, wealth and the ability to be able to educate their kids. Following this the couple takes the fifth round where they pray to Goddess Laxmi to grant them with prosperity and her blessings for the rest of their lives. In the sixth round the groom promises to keep the bride happy for ever and in the seventh round which is the final round the groom promises to be friends with his wife and will do his best to make the marriage last for ever.
